1800s Fonts
Explore our collection of 1800s fonts, the fat faces, tuscans, and wood type of a century that invented advertising typography.
The nineteenth century invented display typography more or less from scratch. Commerce demanded attention, and foundries answered with fat faces, split tuscan serifs, and wood type cut large enough to paper a wall. Nothing before it was so loud, and much of what followed is still borrowing from it.
