Information

IvyMazarin is a 2026 revival of Robert Girard’s 1921 Astrée — later issued as Mazarin by Stephenson Blake in 1926 — and a French 1920s interpretation of Garamond: elegant, sharp, and quietly distinctive. Working from rare archival specimens, Jan Maack preserves the original’s cool crispness — especially in the Italics — while refining proportions, raising the x-height, moderating ascenders, and setting a confident 12° slant. Historical quirks remain available as features, including a long-legged R, alternate Q, swashes, and small caps. IvyMazarin is made for branding, editorial design, and book typography calling for refined character and a precise, incisive edge. Available in five weights with matching Italics and a broad glyph set.
