Information
Caslon refers to a family of serif typefaces originally designed by William Caslon I in the early 18th century. Caslon’s types gained widespread popularity for their legibility and balanced proportions, becoming a standard in English printing. The Ludlow Typograph Company produced its own versions of Caslon, including “True-Cut Caslon," adapting the classic design for hot metal typesetting. These versions maintained the traditional old-style characteristics while catering to the needs of 20th-century printing technology.
