Information
Ultra-Modern is a geometric sans-serif display typeface originally designed by Douglas C. McMurtrie and released by the Ludlow Typograph Company in 1928. Distinguished by its dynamic contrast between thick and thin strokes, Ultra-Modern reflects the streamlined, avant-garde aesthetics of the late 1920s, offering a more expressive and ornamental flair compared to its European contemporaries. The typeface was initially issued in two weights — Regular and Bold — with an Italic style added in 1931. It was later digitized by Steve Jackaman for the Red Rooster Collection, preserving its distinctive character for contemporary use.
