Information
Les Usherwood, the renowned type designer from Typsettra, passed away unexpectedly in 1983, leaving behind several unfinished type families. In a nod to the Usherwood family’s love for horses, Steve Jackaman suggested to Les’s widow, Elsie, that the new style be named “Equestrienne.” It was produced exclusively for the Red Rooster Collection in 1993 by Paul Hickson, with digital engineering and production by renowned type designer Steve Jackaman of ITF. Equestrienne features elegant, well-defined letterforms, giving it a dynamic and classic appearance that evokes a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for its design. Its balanced proportions and subtle contrast make it suitable for editorial design, book covers, and formal invitations. Its standout feature is its adaptability, making it ideal for a wide range of projects and ensuring its versatility in various uses.
