Information
Madrid is a calligraphic roman font family that was digitally engineered by Steve Jackaman (ITF) exclusively for the Red Rooster Collection in 1997. It was inspired by Carlos Winkow’s typeface called “Nacional,” which was designed in 1941 for his foundry of the same name. Two weights of Nacional existed, Clásico Nacional 1 and Clásico Nacional Negro, and Jackaman created intermediary Medium and Extra Bold weights for this all-new family. Like the Spanish capital it is named for, the Madrid typeface is theatrical and decorative. The serifs are steeply inclined, some upper-case letters have hooks, and the glyphs have elegant pen-drawn qualities. Madrid is sure to bring its fiery passion to any project!
